Only a few short months ago our company raised a glass at the UK Music Video awards; Since that night in late October we have delivered a number of very exciting music videos spanning from indie to mainstream. We kicked off by producing ‘Spark Dat Fyah’ for Offish Beatz Entertainment’s act, Tera-D, which hit the ground running picking up airplay on MTV2 and ChU.
November saw the collaborative directorial debut of R&D (aka Rob Fairhurst & David Mahmoudieh) as we created the promo for the acoustic version of Coldplay’s LOST? The video, shortlisted in the band’s top 5 videos by Chris Martin, caused an instant reaction with audiences worldwide and has been critically acclaimed by many.
December saw the directorial debut of Stephen Fairhurst, with the commission for Skerry Rock’s ‘Pieces to the Puzzle’. The obsession-themed video was a success and bagged us two more commissions from the group in the process.
Finally, entering only the 25th hour of January, whilst most were tucked up warm in bed, R&D were outdoors at a freezing-cold MOD base in Northamptonshire filming The Detachments’ ‘Flowers That Fell’, a WWII-themed narrative commissioned through Radar Music Videos for Thisisnotanexit Records.
It’s quite early in 09 but already the Aspect Ratio team has already picked up a number of commissions from some very exciting international artists and labels. Enchanted with what we have achieved so far, it appears more and more established acts are keen to work with a creative team who they know are willing to push themselves more than just a little further to realize their dreams. In these few short months our company has made some very solid steps towards the higher echelons of Music Video production. Whilst we realise that it’s just the beginning for us, and that the bar was set very, very high many years ago, all we can say to the ever-increasing interest we’re generating; is that you ain’t seen nothing yet!
As producer of these videos I would like to thank all who were involved in these recent projects for their patience, commitment and diligence. It’s paying off.
Rob Fairhurst
